Why Amazon Music Unlimited and not Spotify

Why Amazon Music Unlimited and not Spotify

Amazon Music Unlimited is Amazon's new digital music platform that allows you to listen to over 50 million songs, radios and playlists. The service is also accessible without connection and without advertising interruptions on the various devices: desktop (PC / Mac), smartphone, tablet and Fire.

Amazon Music Unlimited enters the ranks of the major music platforms by right. It can be defined as Amazon's answer to Spotify.

Unlike many other Amazon related services, Music Unlimited does not require subscriptions to other Amazon services and is independent from them.

How does it work

Signing up

There is a way to get Amazon Music Unlimited for free. Just sign up and start the 30 day trial. Those who are afraid of forgetting to cancel their subscription can disable automatic renewal already at the time of subscription.

Types of subscription

There are two types of Amazon Music Unlimited subscriptions: individual and family. Both packages can be renewed monthly or annually (paying 10 months instead of 12).

Differences between Amazon Music Unlimited and Amazon Prime Music

The Music Unlimited service is not to be confused with Amazon Prime Music. If you are already a user of the latter, the subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited takes the place of its counterpart, bringing with it all the favorites and saved playlists. Prime Music continues to exist, but with separate streaming service and apps.

Library

Music Unlimited currently has more than 50 million songs (a very high and growing number) and dozens of stations and playlists in the catalog, with a particular focus on classics of all genres, often not usable on other platforms .

Costs

The benefits of Amazon Music Unlimited if you are already an Amazon Prime customer

Switching to Amazon Music Unlimited as a Prime user offers an important advantage. Subscribers pay € 7.99 per month, € 79 for the whole year.

The benefits of Amazon Music Unlimited if you have an Amazon Echo

Those who already have an Amazon Echo can get unlimited music for only € 3.99 per month, with the only constraint of being able to listen to their songs exclusively from the dedicated Amazon device.

If you are not registered with any Amazon service

For those who intend to register for the Music Unlimited service only, the monthly cost is € 9.99, like direct competitors, such as Spotify. So, where is the advantage? Its great strength is in the library, in live lyrics and in personalized stations.

For families

There is the possibility of extending the use of the platform from the single user to the whole family. The Amazon Music Unlimited family subscription costs € 14.99 per month and extends the use of the platform up to 6 simultaneous users. By choosing the annual option, you save two months of subscription (€ 149).

Conclusions

Amazon Music Unlimited is not a direct rival to other platforms (such as Spotify or Apple music) simply because it does not (largely) target the same users. However, Amazon Music Unlimited is undoubtedly the most competitive solution for Amazon Prime customers, both for the price and for the variety of the offer
